Foods That Are Not Good For Your Skin Health

Most of us think that skin health depends on how we cleanse the body every day. For example, those who rarely take a bath or wash their face tend to have dirty, dull, and unhealthy skin. In fact, skin health also depends on other things, just like anything we eat. A healthy diet is considered to be able to keep our skin healthy and beautiful. Conversely, if we choose unhealthy foods, we will also have unhealthy skin if we have a smoking habit. So, what foods are actually less healthy for our skin?

1. White rice

White rice causes blood sugar levels to rise dramatically, leading to wrinkles. Our body metabolizes simple carbohydrates by converting them to glucose. When conversion occurs, glucose damages the collagen tissue of the skin and makes the skin less firm.

2. Candy

Candy Just like rice as a simple carbohydrate, sugar also damages collagen and elastin tissue which functions to make skin supple and soft.

3. Healthy cereals

Don’t be fooled by what is written on the packaging. Although wheat is a good source of carbohydrates, some products process it too much. Also many cereal products contain sugar, which can once again damage the elasticity of the skin.

4. Milk

Studies show that it can affect insulin, cause inflammation, and increase oil production. As a result, the face becomes dull. A better choice is organic milk because it contains natural hormones, not additional hormones that can be found in non-organic milk

5. Chips

This is a type of high-processed carbohydrate that can cause inflammation. Inflammation triggers oxidative stress of DNA and collagen. As a result the wrinkles on the skin increase or appear premature wrinkles.

6. Juice and soda

You know that fruit and soda drinks, mostly fiber and sugar. The fiber content in packaged juices is also very little, not as much as in homemade juice. So, the benefits are also small when compared to the losses that might be caused.

7. Fast food

Fast food tends to contain laden and high-glycemic index fats. This can lead to excess oil production and make the face prone to acne, according to a study published in the Journal of The American Academy of Dermatology.

8. Margarine

Our skin needs fat to keep it moist and supple. But, not all fats provide healthy benefits. An example is trans fat that is commonly obtained in margarine products. Trans fat may also cause skin dryness and make it wrinkle fast, said the study published by the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.
